Should I Buy Cheap Airsoft Guns? (Or What is the Point?)
70
There is a place for the usage of a cheap airsoft gun. It is more than alright to buy some cheap, unreliable, plastic piece of chinese fail for your "test it out" gun.
The thing is if your going to stay in sport for even a little while you will need to upgrade your arsenal. I hate to be the bearer of bad new, but airsoft is one of those sports where you really do get what you pay for.
Now you dont have to spend thousands of dollars to get good quality guns and equipment, but for a really good setup you may spend near $300 to $500. I know that this is not exactly pocket change, but you could very easily go less, or even buy things here or there to spread the price.
If you are going to start skimping on things though, skimp on everything but your guns and magazines. These are your bread and butter, and are what will keep you out of the respawn zone. Cheap gear also tends to last longer than cheap guns, so maybe you could save money by getting non military grade BDU's, knock off boots, and a chinese made vest.
Im not saying that you should stick with crappy knock off gear, but if you have to make a choice right now, spend the most money of your weapons and update your gear as you go along.
Now, far be it from me to say "Dont ever use cheap guns" and not even mention a reason why; I present you with 10 solid reasons why you should spend a little extra on your arsenal.
- 1st of all springers are crap, stay away from them (except for sniper rifles and shotguns). They are slow, cheap, cumbersome, awkward, and will break fairl easily.
- Cheap rifles are just that; if plastic is used it will not be a durable ABS and will break under usage. If the parts are metal, it will be a very mallible and fragile pot metal. You should remember that when your on the field you will not be able to baby your weapon, especially if your in the heat of battle, so your gonna want a weapon that is made tough enough to take some abuse.
- The internals will be cheap as well. Again they will probably be plastic, but could be more pot metal also. They will strip and break pretty quickly and you will need to buy another. It doesnt take to many times having to buy a new cheap gun before the value is lost.
- Any cheap AEG's will have a pitiful R.O.F. I have seen a senior player literally do a "Matrix" bend to avoid the very slow moving BB's sent by a Wal Mart AEG.
- Any cheap gas weapon will lilkely have issues with leaks and poor gas usage (the exception being certain NBB pistols)
- Cheaper guns tend to have really low F.P.S which can cause a lack of firing distance and poor accuracy.
- The generaly poor build quality will further affect the accuaracy of the gun to the point it will often be luck if you hit what you aim at.
- The sights, scopes, lasers, slings, bb's, batteries, etc that they are often sent out with are usually not even worth the materials they are made out of.
- Cheap guns look anf feel like toys. This really takes away the from the realness factor. To me the real weapons and gear mixed with the usage of real military tactics, just makes the experience all the more fun.
- You can't play well unless you play confidently, and just how can you be confident when your loadout consists of a bunch of fragile, pitiful, low powered, innacurate, plastic junk?
